Planet Zoo 2 Confirmed Features, Planned Fixes, and Player Requests
What is confirmed in Planet Zoo 2?
Planet Zoo 2 is already released, so distinguish features in the current game from ideas that may appear in a forum thread or teaser. Frontier’s current feature page and Steam listing confirm fully aquatic and flying species, customizable aquariums, and Wildlife Reserves. Frontier’s official Creature Feature: Seasons describes changing seasons, weather tied to the time of year and biome, and longer in-game years. These are official game features, not future promises. An independent post-release creator review also describes foliage changing gradually, with some plants entering fall color earlier, and notes that players cannot set the season directly; use Frontier’s guide for the full regional and year-length details.
Open Feature Focus: Frequent Flyers for the confirmed aviary, bird, nesting, and cohabitation details. GamingTrend’s hands-on review independently describes aviary bird nesting as natural in play; consult Frontier’s guide for the complete cohabitation and nest requirements. Frontier’s Gallery and animal guides are the right places to verify a named teaser animal; a vague silhouette or a creator’s guess is not confirmation of a future roster addition.
Confirmed, planned, or only requested?
| Status | What the official record says | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| In the released game | Seasons, aquatic and flying species, aquariums, and Wildlife Reserves appear in Frontier’s current feature material and product description. | Treat these as confirmed features. Check the current game and update notes for exact behavior. |
| Officially revealed | Frontier published Wildlife Reserves – Research Vehicle Reveal as part of its Wildlife Reserves material. | This confirms a research vehicle in that system. It does not confirm a visitor transport ride or safari vehicle network. |
| Planned post-launch work | On October 14, Frontier said another update was planned for Friday, October 16, after its first post-release update. It was described as additional fixes and improvements. | This was a dated plan for a near-term update, not a roadmap for new gameplay features. Check the current update notes for what shipped. |
| Being investigated | Frontier said it was investigating animal climbing, escaping, enrichment use, and Franchise stability. | These are development priorities at the time of the post, not a guarantee of a specific fix date or outcome. |
| Player suggestion or rumor | Unannounced ideas in community posts, including requests for transport systems or other additions, are not official commitments. | A suggestion becomes confirmed only when Frontier announces it or documents it in the game/update notes. |
| Not established by reviewed official sources | Whether Planet Zoo 2 uses generative AI, or whether unannounced future animals or systems are planned. | The searches found community discussion but no official confirmation or denial. Do not treat speculation as a yes or no answer. |
Frontier has confirmed changing seasons and flying species in Planet Zoo 2. An independent hands-on review also describes driving a jeep in reserve areas, which is consistent with a research/exploration vehicle; the selected IGN preview describes a survey vehicle in the reserve as well. Likewise, the official research vehicle reveal answers a narrow vehicle question: it is associated with Wildlife Reserves. If you mean guest rides or visitor transport, the official pages reviewed here do not establish that feature.
Do not mix the two games’ update numbers
The search “Planet Zoo 1.2.5 update” points to the original Planet Zoo. Frontier’s page for that update is under the original game’s update notes. Planet Zoo 2 has its own version series; its first post-launch patch was labeled Update 1.0.4 in Frontier’s October 14 announcement. A patch number or fix from one game is not evidence that the sequel has the same feature or roadmap.
Where should I check or send feedback?
Use Frontier’s Planet Zoo 2 news and update notes for announced changes, and its Issue Tracker to report a bug or request an improvement. Frontier’s October 14 post explicitly asked players to continue submitting issues and said it was investigating several animal-behavior areas. Sending feedback gives the team a report to review; it does not guarantee that a requested feature will be built.
This status check reflects official pages captured on October 15, 2026. It cannot establish what Frontier may announce later. Check a newer official news post or update note before relying on an older roadmap or community prediction.
