Zoo Management and Accreditation
Getting started
Open Management → Overview and improve whichever Zoo Reputation rating is lowest: Animal Husbandry, Sustainability, Guest Education, or Guest Experience. For Franchise Accreditation, check the tier panel in your current save. Frontier confirms that tiers unlock additional marketing campaign slots, but does not publish a universal score or star threshold.
Use the Overview to choose your next action
Do not try to improve every system at once. Frontier’s guide recommends checking Zoo Reputation and the four contributing ratings in the Management Overview, improving the weakest one, then checking the ratings again after your changes. The guide says reputation measures zoo performance and that higher reputation brings more Guests.
Use the matching screen for the details behind a low rating:
- Animal Husbandry: In Management → Animals, sort by Welfare to find animals that need attention. Address their displayed welfare needs. Research species to discover their Thriving requirements, then meet those needs where possible.
- Sustainability: The official guide identifies sustainable power sources and recycling bins as relevant. Add recycling bins and replace standard generators with wind turbines or solar panels when your finances allow.
- Guest Education: Check Guest Education in the Overview and Guest Education on the Guests screen. Place boards and speakers, offer audio guides or Educator tours, and cover topics relevant to the animals in your zoo. Some topics require research first.
- Guest Experience: Check Guest Happiness and unmet needs on the Guests screen. Frontier’s examples include adding toilets or drink shops. The rating also reflects scenery and a diverse set of appealing species, so improve poorly decorated areas and avoid relying on only one kind of animal.
After each change, return to the Overview and see whether the weak category improved. This makes the panel a diagnostic loop: identify the low rating, fix a named cause, and measure the result before starting a larger expansion.
Keep the finances sustainable
Open Management → Finances to compare income and expenses across the current and previous season. The official guide suggests reviewing prices and placing Donation Bins near Habitat, Exhibit, and Aquarium viewing areas as possible income improvements. It also says to watch Guest Thoughts: guests may refuse entry if they think tickets cost too much.
When costs are too high, review planned expansions and facilities with high running costs before making cuts. Reducing staff wages can affect staff happiness, so recheck the staff panel after changing pay. The Finance screen also lists loan options; consider them against your current cash flow and the cost of the next project.
What “accreditation” confirms—and what it does not
Frontier’s current Zoo Management guide confirms that Accreditation Tiers unlock additional animal marketing campaign slots. It also says the number of available campaigns and their tiers depend on your current Accreditation Tier. The same guide explains Zoo Reputation and its four ratings, but does not publish a universal reputation score or star threshold for reaching each Accreditation Tier.
One selected creator’s Franchise run describes a three-star Zoo Reputation before Tier 2 unlocked. Another creator says education helps progress through accreditation tiers. These are useful player observations, but they do not prove that three stars is the fixed threshold in every Franchise zoo or version. If you are one objective away, read the current Franchise accreditation screen and complete its listed requirement rather than relying on a remembered threshold.
Evidence limits
The four rating categories, diagnostic screens, management advice, and marketing-slot relationship above come from Frontier’s Zoo Management guide. The selected creator transcripts are supplemental gameplay perspectives. The reviewed public sources do not establish a universal numerical Accreditation Tier threshold.
